claims seven square miles of the picturesque region east of
the Cascade
Mountain foothills. Situated at the confluence of the Columbia
and Wenatchee
rivers, ‘Wenatchee’ is a Yakima
Indian word that means “river which comes from
canyons”. Other local sites that share the name include Lake
Wenatchee and Wenatchee
National Forest.
Wenatchee, population 27,856 (Census
2000 Data), acts as the seat of Chelan
County. This high-tech community enjoys a modern network
of digital connections that sets the tone for Wenatchee’s

nearly 300 days per year. Technically located in a desert
region, Wenatchee, Washington derives its vital irrigation
from the Columbia River and its corresponding tributaries.

Capital Recreational Loop Trail, found along either shore
of the Columbia, affords residents a scenic path for biking,
skating and walking year round and for cross-country skiing
and snow shoeing in winter. In addition, several nearby
mountains are excellent sites for skiing, sledding,
snowboarding and snowmobiling in the colder months. Other
sites of interest include Devil’s
Gulch, the Horan
Natural Area, Rocky
Reach Dam, the Wenatchee
Valley Super Oval and the Wenatchee
Valley Museum and Cultural Center.
